Getting Started

What is UPI? How does it enable bank-to-bank transfer?

Unified Payments Interface (UPI) is a real-time payment system that facilitates instantaneous inter-bank transactions via mobile phones. UPI is developed by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) and regulated by the Reserve Bank of India. UPI uses IMPS (Immediate Payment Service) for transferring funds from one account to another.

Why do I need to verify my mobile number?

Mobile Number verification is mandated by the RBI and NPCI for the device binding process as well as linking your Slash account with your bank account(s) through your bank-registered mobile number.

What If I Get Device Binding Failed?

Device binding can fail for any of the following reasons:

  1. The app is unable to send an SMS (Make sure to give Slash SMS permissions)

  2. You have poor network connectivity

  3. Your phone time is different from the actual time of the place you’re in

  4. Your telecom service provider is unable to send a registration SMS to NPCI

If none of the above reasons seem to apply, please contact us for help.

My phone verification process failed while setting up UPI on Slash. What should I do?

Phone verification fails when your SIM card doesn’t match your bank account’s registered mobile phone number. If you’re using a dual-SIM phone, make sure that the SIM/number you choose during the verification process is the one that’s linked to the bank account you want to set up for / add to Slash UPI.

This usually happens with Current Accounts with multiple signatories or with joint accounts from some banks.

Slash Exclusive

What is Slash?

Slash is a modern payments app designed to make paying people online faster, safer and simpler. Slash makes paying people as simple as typing in their Slashtag and removes the need for complicated VPAs, personal phone numbers, and tiring bank details.

What is Slash ID?

A Slash ID is a unique identifier for users and a universal payment identity on the internet. You can create a unique Slashtag that’s easy to remember for friends and private enough to be shared with any person or business on the internet.

Slash ID are a simpler, more private alternative to age-old identifiers like phone numbers, VPAs, and bank account numbers.

Can someone access my bank details if they know my Slash ID?

No, nobody on Slash can use your Slash Id to find your bank account details, phone number, or any other details. We created Slash Id to eliminate the need to share bank details and phone numbers.

Not only does your Slash ID conceal such information, but the transaction information itself is encrypted with the highest global security standards.

How do I know I can trust Slash with my payments?

Credibility, security and trust are at the core of what we’ve built. We are recognized and approved by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) and you can verify the same on NPCI’s website.,

We’ve also partnered with ICICI Bank, an RBI-recognized bank, for our UPI services and meet the highest compliance, security, and quality standards for payments apps.

Do I have to pay anything to create a Slash account and use Slash?

No. Slash is completely free and we never ask you to pay anything to set up a Slash account or to use Slash to send money to people, merchants or bank accounts.

Why does my Slash UPI address (VPA) contain the name “ICICI?”

ICICI Bank is the official UPI banking partner for Slash to create and use UPI IDs for online payments. As mandated by authorities, all third party payment apps are required to partner with a regulated entity to ensure the safety and security of their users.

Please ensure that the mobile number you are using while setting up Slash is also registered with your bank and linked to your bank account(s). Do note that the registered mobile number’s SIM must be in use and active on the device on which you are setting up Slash.

In case the mobile number you are using to set up Slash is registered with your bank but your account isn’t showing up, your bank probably doesn’t permit your account type to be listed on UPI. This usually happens with Current Accounts with multiple signatories or with joint accounts from some banks.
